Research into new drugs is crucial for both patients and Boehringer Ingelheim. Internationally, the company spent 1.6 billion Euros on research and development in 2006. This was 16 % more than the previous year, and corresponds to approximately 18% of the sale of prescription medicine. Boehringer Ingelheim in Denmark also contributes to the corporation’s research and development. In 2006, we took part in 16 international clinical trials involving the monitoring of almost 1,700 patients.
